Delivery of Dendrimer-Drug Conjugates to Cartilages for Treating Post-Traumatic Osteoarthritis
The treatment of post-traumatic osteoarthritis remains a challenge due to limitation of drug delivery to the avascular dense matrix and rapid clearance of the drug in the joints. Encouraged by the recent promising results in delivering disease-modifying drugs to the joints using dendrimer-drug conjugates which resulted in better penetration and retention, my research aims to evaluate the platform using various drug candidates. My research will focus on the translational aspect of the technology, evaluating and optimizing the nanocarrier formulation in vivo in order to establish a disease-modifying therapy for the treatment of post-traumatic osteoarthritis.
