Drug delivery of RNA-targeting therapy for improved wound healing

Non-healing wounds impact many patients with diabetes; however, current treatments are inadequate to induce closure in majority of patients and lead to high rates of recurrence for those wounds that do close. RNA-targeting nucleic acid therapies hold tremendous promise in directly addressing the underlying protein expression disturbances that are implicated in poorly healing wounds; however, successfully delivering these therapies to the wound in a way that enables temporal and spatial control has been met with challenges. Adam is leveraging electrostatic self-assembly with the layer-by-layer approach to better enable sustained delivery of RNA-targeting therapies to poorly healing wounds.
