Targeted delivery of layer-by-layer nanoparticles using engineered protein coronas

Layer-by-layer (LbL) nanoparticles are a modular drug delivery platform in which tunable polyelectrolyte surface coatings can be used to direct therapeutic cargo to specific cells and tissues. These surface modifications have shown particular promise for targeting ovarian cancer, where the protein corona formed in biological fluids plays a key role in governing nanoparticle uptake and biodistribution. My research aims to better understand the relationship between LbL nanoparticle surface chemistry and biological interactions, with the goal of designing more effective targeted therapies for cancer.
