Triggered Drug Delivery from LbL Films
During the healing process in wounds centimeters below the surface of the skin, it is desirable to prevent the formation of fibrotic tissue and instead allow for the regeneration of functional tissue. The objective is to develop non-invasive routes to modulate the wound healing process in deep wounds. Our approach to solving this problem is to build a platform for externally stimulated delivery of encapsulated therapeutics from a resorbable bandage previously implanted into the wound site during surgery. We will work towards developing a generalized toolset for the remotely controlled localized release of therapeutics in the body.
