Intravenous Hemostats

Internal and ‘shark-bite’ type wounds, such as those resulting from blunt force trauma or deep tearing, are difficult to treat as the source of bleeding is not readily identifiable or accessible. Hemostats capable of autonomously accumulating at the wound site may therefore aid in faster stabilization of these wounds. To meet this need, my project aims to utilize techniques such as layer-by-layer assembly in developing intravenously injectable hemostats that can locate torn vessels and subsequently establish clotting.
