Responsive Layer-by-Layer Nanoparticles for Targeted Drug Delivery
Layer-by-layer assembly can be utilized to “disguise” drug-loaded nanoparticles while encapsulating gene therapeutics in the outer layers, improving circulation time and mitigating off-target effects. These outer layers can be modified to improve tumor-specific delivery. My research focuses on designing protease-responsive layers for triggered particle disassembly and sequential drug delivery as well as improving particle delivery and uptake in cancerous cells by incorporating targeting ligands in the outer layers.
